Finally, we have developed a blend specifically roasted and blended for espresso extraction after a long time espresso obsessed friend reached out looking for a blend that would hit the spot. He had a few options, but I knew we could get to the same place if we tweaked the ratios and the roasting profiles of the components. After many animated and spirited conversations and feedback - Ex Machina Espresso was forged. We wanted to pay homage to traditional Italian espresso profiles, elevating the blend with fresh crop, clean, sweet, and balanced coffees that are roasted to perform in specific harmony. This espresso is steady and sweet, with loads of bittersweet cacao notes, hints of fruit, and that classic, balanced finish that lingers. Natural process Brazil is the base of this blend, and we finish it off with a beautiful washed Ethiopia from the Uraga Guji zone. Our best espresso pulls were 19 grams in and 35-36 grams out in 25-28 seconds. If you can set a water temperature on your espresso machine - 199.5-200 degrees Fahrenheit should do the trick. However, experiment with extraction and temps because everyone seeks something a little different in their practice. We encourage you to find your sweet spot - but our parameters are a great baseline to start from. We are thrilled to finally offer a dedicated espresso blend. Still, the Parts and Labor and Twilight blends are also great alternatives. Enjoy!
